DUODECO

Duodeco is a professional vocal ensemble founded in Vilnius in 2019. Since its inception, the ensemble has been led by conductor Povilas Vanžodis. In 2025, Duodeco received the prestigious Golden Bird (Aukso paukštė) award, recognising it as Lithuania's Best Vocal Ensemble.

    In 2021, the ensemble's refined sound and expressive musicianship earned it first prize at Lithuania's national Silver Voices (Sidabriniai balsai) competition, as well as the top award at the Silver Bells International Competition in Latvia.

    Duodeco is regularly invited to perform at official state events and collaborates closely with Lithuanian cultural institutions and municipalities.

    The ensemble frequently collaborates with international artists and cultural institutions, presenting concert programmes to audiences in Lithuania and abroad. Recent highlights include a live Euroradio broadcast from the historic Orthodox Church of St Nicholas the Wonderworker, a performance at the Open To the World Festival alongside Grammy Award–winning composer Christopher Tin, and a concert at the Bolzano Festival Bozen - Antiqua (Italy).

    The ensemble also participated in the nationwide recording project for the repertoire of the Lithuanian Schoolchildren's Song Celebration. These engagements attest to Duodeco's artistic excellence, versatility, and commitment to the highest standards of vocal performance.

Music critic Monika Sokaitė writes about the phenomenon of the vocal ensemble Duodeco:

«That is one of the reasons why Duodeco fascinates me so much. Not because they perform difficult music, though they do. Not because they receive awards, though they do. But because in their work one can see something that culture is often inclined to ignore: the ability to perform difficult collective work exceptionally well over a long period of time, and to do it so successfully that, to the audience, it all appears entirely natural. In my view, that is one of the highest forms of professionalism.
